Humanism is world view which is non-religious. Humanism prides itself on being free-thinking; there is no doctrine or text to follow and no mandated rituals or practises. Broadly speaking Humanists do agree on the following tenets:
Basing understanding of the world on what can be proven or determined through science, thereby rejecting faith in superstitions and the supernatural.
Believing that there is only one life, and that meaning is brought to it by seeking and encouraging happiness in oneself and others.
Maintaining empathy and kindness towards others and making reasoned decisions which offer the best for humanity and the natural world.
